“I have a thirsty fishin me that can never find enough of what its thirsty for.” | Rumi
Absorbed in our dailylives, governed by advertisements constantly telling us about the new objectswhich we ‘must’ try, falling prey to the sorrow of not having the latest phonein our hands, or missing out on a big social event; we are all people whocomplain, who complain constantly about everything that is missing in ourlives, and thus, we over look our pot of gold: our surrounding, our society andmost importantly our selves. We have become ungrateful and ignorant abouteverything that we are blessed with. This thirst within us, telling us that there is something missing, cannot bequenched by adding more since contentment is only a result of appreciating whatis already present; by being grateful for what we have.
Gratitude is a twostep process developed by acknowledging a blessing and then expressingthankfulness towards its source. It is an emotion cultivated through remindersand conscious practice.
A Gracious Post is aninstallation which will take you on a journey, reminding you about all the freethings that you are blessed. It starts with reminding you about the blessingsin your surroundings, moving towards society, your physical self, then yourpsychological self, and finally your inner most senses; making you realize, that despite everything you feel is missing in your life, there is still somuch to be grateful about.
A Gracious Post alsogives you a chance to take back post-cards as reminders, and to send them outto people you are grateful for; or even better, let us deliver them to yourloved ones.
A Gracious Post would be done under the organization D.U.C.K (Designers Unite for a Cause Karachi.) A non-profit organization made up of pro-active designers who understand the responsibility of their talent and use it to create awareness for humanitarian cause. (http://www.facebook.com/duckarachi)
