Maxi Professional Styling Gel has been a best seller in the multi-cultural beauty industry for 20 years. It is sold in over 3,000 beauty supply stores across four continents. This brand is Jinny's first in-house brand.

Being around for that long is quite an accomplishment, but having the same packaging for that long makes the product look old and dated. I was informed in 2016 that a new production run was being ordered. I asked the purchasing agent if they could put aside the old artwork and give my team a crack at redesigning the label.

I started off by allowing my team to do some research on the top selling brands, like Ampro and Eco Style. We each came up with at least two logo designs. The logo design was decided upon by the CEO, however the order was put on hold.
Fast forward to mid 2019, an agreement was made with a manufacturer located in the southeast, Maxi Professional Styling Gel would finally be produced. The reason why we couldn't go ahead with production in 2016 was extreme overstock.

I quickly took the winning design and created the label artwork. Eight labels needed to be created for the production line. That was the easy part, dealing with the jar printer was where this project took a turn. I sent them the artwork, but I would not sign off on the proofs until I received a print sample. The smallest jar had artwork with 6 pt type in it and I wasn't going to print 10,000+ jars without a print sample! With the manufacturer as the middle man, I took the initiative and went straight to the jar printer. After a couple of phone calls, they finally agreed to make us a sample. 

A month later, I received a sample of the smallest jar. I liked what I saw, and gave my final approval on the proofs.

With the new label design, Maxi Professional Styling Gel will continue to be a hot seller across the world. I am looking forward to redesigning the other lines in the Maxi Professional family.
