Living roots bridge of Nongriat Village. Meghalaya, 2018.
Double decker living roots bridge.
Meghalaya, 2018
Meghalaya houses a dozen of Living roots bridges existing since mid 1800s with a life of 500 years. The rubber trees were nurtured by the Khasi tribe until they reached across the streams/creeks and intertwined until they formed a strong bond to carry heavy weights.

While on a 3 hour trek to Nongriat's most famous Double decker living roots bridge, an off route led us to find these magnificent, secluded bridges. They put bamboo halves for people to walk on the bridges that aren't wide or knitted enough for a platform, naturally formed by soil accumulation.
