Nicolas NOYON's profile

RIOJA KIDS COURT SNEAKERS KAPPA

On the Rioja project I had the opportunity to rework
an existing model named KOAGIO to make a new version.
To build this model, I was able to use the previous version named KOAGIO with the help of the trend book from the trend cabinet "Promostyl" and my research of trend and color watching I was able to build my trend board.
This project was a challenge, designing a new version less expensive than the previous one for different age groups in order to be launched on the French market at the opening of the 2015 school year.

Here is the previous model named KOAGIO.

For the start of the school year I was able to design my first entry-level model for children produced and designed for the Italian brand Kappa.

Here we have the 3 ideas retained for the next phase, that of the first samples.

There are various stages in the process of developing the first samples. At this stage we had the opportunity to get the materials and colors from the specification sheets. This is not always the situation.

The first sample is important to see the projection of the lines on the volume of the shoe last with the different thicknesses of material. The concordance of the different textures and colors.

Using the first samples, developers can make an initial evaluation of the production cost of the shoe. This quotation is evolving because it is impacted by many factors related to design, volume, number of colors....

It is important to select colors and materials that will animate the model by bringing a notion of quality. The texture and shine of the synthetic materials are of crucial importance.
Once the models have been selected we can start working with the development team
to refine the aesthetics to stay within the specifications ''yokes, logo marking, material...''
We can start to see the gradation of the models on the different categories: Infant, junior, cadet for our Rioja model.
Once the presentation was made to the project manager of the decathlon New Feel brand, I was able to make changes to the model in preparation for the phase of selecting the buyers of the products that would be put on the shelves.

I was able to learn how to model my project on my own. A skill that wasn't present in our team at that time.

Once the final modifications have been made, the confirmatory sample of materials and colors is then prepared for release on the market.

During the presentation to the Client, the decision is made as to whether or not the model will go into production. It is often at this point that we readjust colors and materials before the confirmation samples. Passing the selection phase is a step that allows a project to come out of the cellar, the next phase is to know if the sales are equal to the investment made on the model.
The rioja model is a simple model designed for the French market. The challenge on this project was to match the lines of the design, combine the yokes, have a style that is consistent with the budget set by the product manager and that will appeal to parents. In this age group it is still the parents who have the last on the purchase of the school shoe. A footwear design sneaker with a court spirit.
The Rioja model was distributed in the Decathlon network sold at the time in the NEWFEEL brand's shelves. A model inspired by the sports shoe models dedicated to tennis with a simple and timeless aesthetic.
Be distributed in the Decathlon distribution network was a European showcase for the Rioja model.
Thank you for watching.
