Project — Brand identity and rollout
Client — 6/CUT
This one was a bit different. We have been friends with 6/CUT (and meaning to get round to doing something with them) for years – it’s our favourite pizza place in Manchester. The identity had always been good (utilitarian meets Williamsburg), but the people that ran it had recently bought it and now being 100% independent, they wanted a new look that matched their personality and direction.
The external signage was staying, so we didn’t want to change the logo, but nobody had a copy of the original so we scanned an old receipt and used that. This was paired with a similar vernacular found on receipts and produce packaging (the one consistent element throughout).
The idea was anything goes. We didn’t want to be precious but instead create something with personality – an identity that matched the space (produce on show, ephemera adorning walls and shelves etc). The owners were keen to be hands on, and so an all-out DIY aesthetic was created, always with a ‘Brought to you by 6/CUT’ stamped over the top.
