They Draw and Cook

My Mousakka. The first illustration I submitted to They Draw and Cook, a website featuring artists who illustrate recipes.

Artists are prompted to submit specific works of art often times to fit a theme. The theme was holiday and in my family we always cooked the leftovers into a large pot of porridge, an Asian staple called Jook. Here the story of Goldilocks and the Three Bears has been worked into my illustration where the bears are Panda's eating their Holiday Jook.

This time the theme was to submit a recipe with figs and I actually tested this recipe by adding figs to a basic baklava recipe. I wanted to integrate the ingredients and cooking instructions into the art and so I thought of the adventurous figs in little boats with sails to contain the ingredients as well as the pelican. The baklava triangle was a nod to the Bermuda Triangle, but I don't know if anyone got the connection. It was a fun project to practice illustration.
