HOLY GLORY VS. GLORY HOLE (2009)

Camera: Polaroid SLR680
Film: Polaroid 600

Coloured adhesive tapes, inkjet print on transparecy film, fragments of magazines

These pictures play around two themes: sex & religion.
Color explosions, monstrosity of figures, unreal and disturbing setting - or their total absence - short and funny or decontextualized sentences/words are pop-astonishing media to catch the observer's attention.
Furthermore, despite their funny aspect, these Polaroids bring to a deeper, polemic and queer-oriented reflexion about the role of Catholic Church, its gerarchy and sex.
All these topics merge into a playful or painful game to freely express the identity of the self, against the fake idea of goodness and pureness spread by a Church imposing nonsense-bordering lifestyles as absolute truths.
Porn, uncomfortable feelings and irony are the way to escape from constrictions and bigotry.
Because - sometimes - self-freedom is just a squirt of sperm away.
