The idea of redesigning trash bags project comes from the day when I was listening to the broadcast -- “Bad waste sorting was even worse than no sorting”. I felt shocked, because I’ve always been thinking that I’ve been doing a nice good effort for the planet, I feels concerned for environment, I’ve being doing waste sorting, but actually not in a very strict way. Sometimes I encounter the question like “how should I recycle this thing?”, and I’ve been making choice instinctively, but it's true that a little effort maybe worse than no effort at all. How many people are doing such things and feeling proud of their little contribution to the environment? After having a discussion with my friends, I find out that many people have some wrong habits about waste sorting. For example the milk carton is a common waste in our daily life, but it is usually recycled as paper waste instead of PMD. There is detailed guidance on the daily-use trash bags, but how many people really have been looking at it carefully and have a good understanding of it? The idea of making a new visual design of the trash bags came to me. If the visual elements are interesting and amusing to look at, will people be willing to take their time and read carefully? With the waste sorting encouraging message sent through the design, maybe people can be more attentive and motivated for waste sorting.
