According to a study by the »Ellen MacArthur Foundation«, more than eight million tons of plastic deposit in the global oceans every year, consequently there would be 2050 more plastic than fish in the water. Around 4 % of the found garbage on North Sea beaches are cotton swabs. Aim was to build a critical position towards daily plastic consumption to the benefit of marine conservation.

The illustration was part of the exhibition »Seagulls. Waste. And some mermaids« and was published by Carlsen publishing house. Additional the artwork was screen-printed in three colors on DIN A2 in a limited edition of 30 pieces. 20 % of every sold artwork were donated to a marine protection organization.
