Emergency Ieri e Oggi: 25 anni a sostegno del mondo è un atlante storico che racconta il periodo di tempo dal 1994, anno della fondazione di Emergency, al 2019. Utilizzando elementi cartografici e visualizzazioni di dati, l'atlante mostra come l'associazione umanitaria abbia portato aiuti medici nelle più difficili realtà del mondo, mostrando i contesti storici e politici nei quali si è dovuta inserire. La narrazione è divisa tra gli interventi già portati a termine e quelli ancora in corso, rappresentati rispettivamente dai colori verde e arancione. Obiettivo del libro è dimostrare l'idea di circolarità che sta alla base degli aiuti forniti dall’associazione: essa raggiunge un determinato Paese al fine di migliorare le sue condizioni, per poi consegnare quanto fatto nelle mani delle autorità locali, garantendone l'autosufficienza e ripartendo successivamente alla volta di un'altra nazione. Tale concetto di circolarità si riflette nella composizione del libro che andrà infatti capovolto al termine della prima sezione, quella dedicata agli interventi conclusi.

Emergency Ieri e Oggi: 25 anni a sostegno del mondo is an historical atlas that covers the period of time from 1994, the year Emergency was founded, to 2019. The atlas tells how the humanitarian NGO has provided medical help worldwide and it shows the historical and political contexts of the countries taken into account, employing data visualisation and cartography. The book is based on the distinction between the operations that are already concluded and those currently underway, illustrated by the colours green and orange respectively. The atlas wants to show the idea of circularity that characterises the work of Emergency: the humanitarian NGO goes to a country in order to provide help and then it departs and leaves what has been done to the local authorities, guaranteeing their self-sufficiency. The concept of circularity reflects in the form of the book, which is supposed to be turned around after the end of the first section about the finished interventions.
