We never met the Grim Reaper so humane, curious and cat loving as in Terry Pratchett's books. In world's folklore the Death is always perceived  as amalgamation of horror and inevitableness. But not the Death is cause of our life's end, and in the hour of our demise, when we are alone and terrified, it is very kind of someone to make us a company and guide to other chapter of neverending journey.
