An open book project titled "Queen of Arab Desserts". As a keen baker, I took this project as an opportunity to focus on one of my favourite things - dessert.
Traditionally orange and round in shape, Palestinian knafeh is made up of layers of pastry and cheese, all soaked in sugar syrup. Growing up in a Palestinian household, knafeh has always been an important part of any gathering. With this dessert crowned "the Queen of Arab Desserts", I took this project as an opportunity to create a cookbook honouring one of Palestines most well-known desserts. In addition to the traditional knafeh, I made some modern versions popular in the Middle East.
The book is split into two sections - Arabic to the right and English to the left.
Both sides mirror each other and join in the middle to have both languages on one page - a reference to both my cultures.
The dimensions and colour of the book refers to knafehs made by my family and opens up to form a circle.
