Animation Cycles - Lockdown Summative

When creating this animation - I collaborated with two other classmates in order to create cohesive animation cycles over the New Zealand Covid 19 lockdown, for an assignment.

We were asked to choose a video game character from World of Warcraft or Injustice, then select a character based on the game we chose. We decided to pick the Wizard character from the video game franchise, World of Warcraft.

As part of the requirements of the assignment, we also had to, as a team, select a character from Spider-Man into the Spider-verse to base our animation off of. We decided to choose Miles Morales, a clumsy character who spends much of the animated film unsure of himself and his movements as he navigates his new powers.

Based off of Miles, we decided to design our Wizard character after the unsure, shy, clumsy, uncoordinated archetype.

I then needed to plan my animation. I brainstormed a number of different animations and movements that I could them choose from. I chose two, as seen in the video above.

I used maya in order to animate the Wizard. I key framed the different movements using the different controls provided on the rig.

I decided to use the pose to pose animation technique with these animations, after filming myself for reference footage, I then placed the footage into Sync Sketch so I knew the exact frames to place my key poses in - in reference to my footage.

After animating, we all playblasted our animations and placed our playblasts after one another into one video, using premiere pro, displaying our teams work.
