Victoriana
[vik-tawr-ee-an-uh]

Plural Noun: Objects, Ornaments, Furnishings, Articles, esp. collectors’ items, Art objects, etc., from the Victorian period
-Matters or attitudes relating to or characteristic of this period

I have always had a profound interest in the Victorian era; I especially admire the ornate details that were put into belongings of people during this time. The detail that went into daily objects is not crafted anymore and has made the objects go unappreciated. Generally, the first things taken for granted are everyday objects. People do not take the time to admire the little things that can be so significant. The Victorian era objects were not machine made; intricate detailing went into each item. Today, many disregard the elaborate detailing of objects from previous eras. By photographing many of these items, I hope to simulate the uniqueness that has been overlooked.
After photographing still lives of these objects, I used Photoshop to create the visual that my images also came from the Victorian era. I felt this was necessary in portraying my photographs to make them appear vintage. I used many different effects to create the look I was going for. By doing so, I hope the viewers will have a more intimate connection to my images and truly understand the beauty I see and wanted to portray in these objects.
