Comment area, how can it be changed?
Background
YouTube often repositions comments. YouTube's efforts to focus on content and usability are seen.
But, This often confuses us.
So, Let's give opinions to YouTube, who is struggling with the place of the comments.
Through a recent update, YouTube's comments area is placed above 'Next Video'. Because of this, the screen looks very complicated.
This is the Skeleton UI.
('Next video' area was treated as a low tone because of its low visual priority.)
So, Let's try many tests based on basic design above.
Test 1
Hide comments
The comment section is completely hidden inside the icon. The background is as follows.
Recently, YouTube has made the comment section smaller. They may want viewers to focus more on the video. (But, we all have the need for the best comments, so we should leave room for the comments)
This is a Skeleton UI. It looks neat because a paragraph is deleted.
Test 2
To compress into a single line

More and more, I focused on simplicity rather than usability. It may look simple and fun. Likewise, the comments are cleaner because they are hidden. But it is inconvenient to handle many functions. It is hard to predict how the profile image will change.
Test 3
Keep comments but compress in 'more'
This is a final test. I considered the usability of the comments. I left only the most used functions. First, 'Dislike' is gradually disappearing. This is because users don't want it anymore. So let's hide this and other functions in 'more'. Except only 'like' and 'Comments'.
It's a comparison screen. This is one paragraph less than before, so it looks much more neat. If YouTube modifies the comments area, this seems to be the best direction.

The most essential information areas(youtuber, like, comments) are better bound than before.
Press 'More' to expose other functions. And you can fold it back.
There were many tests to fold it back. However, it adopted the most natural method based on UX.
