Paul Rand: New Vision

Paul Rand: New Vision
 Commemorative Panel & Stamps

The goal was to create a panel and stamps dedicated to a designer.
Paul Rand was chosen, who impacted American graphic design standards to have a detailed process and concept behind the aesthetics and simplicity of a design.

Process
Research: About a chosen impactful designer
Panel: Biography about the designer and displaying stamps. The concept is inspired by the designer's ideology and individual style. (8.5 x 10.86 inches)
Stamps: Designs representing the designer's ideology and style. Works as a standalone but also as a series. (3.15 x 3.8 cm)

Concept
The panel's collage style was inspired by Paul Rand's graphic style. Rand's graphic style consists of simple, flat, playful and colorful collages and typography, which was implemented onto the designs. He was well-known for creating simple logos, like for ABC and IBM, but he also had a humanistic handcrafted side in his layout designs.

The title, "New Vision," refers to his belief that creating designs solves a client's problem by redefining their stance. The title also refers to his unique graphic style that was unique during his time.

The typeface, Futura, was chosen because Rand used his simple, geometric font often throughout his works.
