Brick Home Studio Logo process

Brick Home Studio is a personal home project between Eleonora Terzi (printmaker, goldsmith, bookbinder) and me.

Brick by brick, we started turning our house into a creative studio, which is mainly focused on handmade printing techniques, independent publishing, drawing, illustration and jewelry.
We decided to found this workshop in order to get our hands dirty, according to our daily inspiration or external commissions.

Here is the final logo, the ideas behind and the applications of it through different techniques and materials. The main concept of it was to make it look "handmade" or better say handprinted and a bit "naive". That 's because big part of our works are linoprinted and also Eleonora used to curate printing workshops for kids.

So, I did some quick doodles and I ended up on this. The bottom part is a brick, drawn in a way that you see flat both the facade and the side view (I really had the perspective reference from actual kid drawings) and the upper part is a classic triangular roof, designed the way we all did the first time we used a pencil or marker. Ready made font with small customization used for the typo part.

Before the tracing, I carved the design on linoleum a couple of times to see how different is the final carving from the original drawing and I tried to use some of these "flaws" that appear in the carving process on my final digital design.

As you can see from the pictures, for packaging and advertising reasons, we printed this logo on sticker, carved it on wooden keychains and stamp, painted it on walls and of course we still stick to the roots and we print it by hand in any chance given. The logo is one but since it represents an artistic project concerning handmade creations we dare to manipulate it and play with the structure of it according to the medium we work or the mood we have.
