Pot Throwing for me is theatre, the clay comes alive within the potter’s hands, dancing and rising into a piece of usable sculpture. Emotions are prevalent, just like an actor on stage. Frustration, relaxation and wonder are moulded into every piece, created through this traditional medium.
The heritage behind this age-old technique is something that inspires me. Especially being from Stoke – on – Trent, the birthplace of Wedgwood back in 1759. Josiah Wedgwood would meticulously test and experiment his wears to a point of complete perfection creating outstanding beauty. Having the ability to keep this art form going is something I take great pride in.
