COLOURFUL LIFE
High School Art Project (2015 - 2016)
Based on a poem I wrote when I was in 9th grade, this art project surrounds the theme of growing up. An analogy inspired by the line from the Tim Burton's movie, Alice in Wonderland, which is  "You can always paint the roses red." We start off as white roses, and as we grow up, more and more colours are added on into our life to represent the lessons we've learned and skills we have gained throughout our lives.

Project was done with acrylic paint on a 10ft x 6ft wooden board, which is similar to a mural.
Individual flowers on the woman's head took approximately 15 - 30 minutes to paint.
A Rainbow Rose by Nur Hidayah Ismail

The colours of a white rose are unchanged
You can only make them colourful,
by painting the colours of the rainbow on it,
but you can never get back that pure whiteness of the rose,
for it has been stained.

The rose will slowly wilt,
along with the stained colours upon its petals,
but know one thing:

That once pure white rose,
has died as a beautiful,
and colourful rose.
