A motion book trailer I made for Bloomsbury Publishing promoting 'The Devil and the Dark Water' by Stuart Turton. I wanted to evoke the foreboding, suspenseful mood of the narrative through a dramatic and dark motion sequence. All illustrations were made from scratch on Adobe Photoshop and then animated on Adobe After Effects.

As the story itself was set in the 1600s, I drew inspiration from the Baroque art period
of the 1600s for my visual palette. I felt that the dramatic contrast and vibrancy of these paintings correlated with the dramatic themes and storyline of the book. The animated glyphs and typeface choice were also inspired by the script writing from this time period.
