Wafting Breaths
Wafting Breaths is an installation-based series made up of coloured pencil rubbings of hinges taken from a door, wardrobe, and piano. This series aims to bring to light traces of the less noticed, which exist within the various intimate spaces of our own domestic home.

By rubbing these hinges onto soft fabric, with the use of frottage, they are highlighted as main objects instead of being supporting roles. Yet at the same time, these hinge rubbings look like ghostly images, which are lifeless themselves, without other parts to support them. By presenting these traced hinges with draping, hanging, and stretching of the fabric, they are removed from their original domestic setting and rigidity. Instead, they are supported with new identities and breathe new life again.
