Gift of Life Celebrates a Dozen Years of Leadership

An experienced public health and public safety professional, Nathan Rotenberg is an air communications professional specializing in air medical transport. Working with the University of Pennsylvania Health System’s PennSTAR Flight Team since 2007, Nathan Rotenberg has played a key role in carrying out such life-saving missions coordinated through the Gift of Life Donor Program.

Gift of Life Donor Program recently celebrated its 12th straight year as America’s top organ-procurement organization. It earns this distinction having outperformed 58 similar organizations throughout 2019, a year in which it secured 664 donations and facilitated 1,865 transplant procedures, both of which stand as national records.

Throughout the United States, nearly 120,000 patients await organs that could save their lives. Tragically, 8,000 patients annually die before they can get the organs they need, demonstrating that there are not enough organ donors to meet demand. Organizations like Gift of Life work tirelessly to raise awareness of organ donation to close that gap. In fact, a single organ donor can preserve life for as many as eight people in dire need.
