
This illustration was inspired by the Raleigh Chopper bike from the 1970s, a true cult icon from bygone days.

The Illustration is built up out of 4 flat color layers. Overlapping these colors creates the final color palette



I started creating a pencil sketch of the bike, using reference.
After that I created a value version, to get a feel for the overall illustration.
After that I created a value version, to get a feel for the overall illustration.


After creating the sketches, I started building up the color layers, manually drawing them in Clip Studio Paint.

By using this method, you get a nice woozy result, which is not too clean.

When this is done, I tweak the colors, add texture and slightly move the layers to create the interesting "mistakes" you would get in actual shifting of the plates in screen printing.
