HOT BATIK
I have a long history with hot batik. It all started with an Adult Education class on Hot Batik in Brookline Art Center. It was about ten years ago or so. I fell in love with this media. Working with textiles. Hot and messy, and unpredictable, there is a decent amount of planning, but a decent amount of letting go. The only - really serious - downside is the wax removing process. So using wax is at the same time a huge plus and a huge minus of hot batik.
The image below was a first hot batik design of mine. It is on my husband's T-shirt, which is now pretty old and worn, but still loved! This design was later used for some other interesting projects, which I will probably describe later.
