Antidote to Apathy towards Relaxation and Stress Releas

Antidote to Apathy Towards Relaxation and Stress Release
Stress is what we people face in our everyday life and due to civilization and development. It is overloading, therefore I would like to create a space that demonstrates an antidote to apathy towards relaxation and stress release for people to stop overthinking and trembling. I focused on creating a path providing the experience of vestibular sensation, how the body struggles to strike a balance while moving forward at the beginning. Visual, the change in space echoes with the person’s visual perception from being in a stressed state with enclosed crowded space to an open space inspired by Carriageworks.Proprioception, by including spikes and holes at the beginning of the path, it encourages conscious and careful movement of the person’s body, thinking and consideration are needed before each step. Towards the end, the path will be more straight and smooth less consideration and thinking is needed, as the body enters the state of relaxation. The sense of hearing is incorporated, in the beginning, there will be city noises playing loud, then decrescendos, when entering the space at the end echoes can be heard, promoting a sense of calmness. Sense of tactile can be experienced as the person moves the spikes at the wall the rough surface and the smooth surface at the end. To enhance the sense of relaxation, an essential oil diffuser will be placed at the space at the end, to further allow the mind to stay in a peaceful state.
Collage
This is my first college it represents the first part of my experiential journey. The main concept here is stress. At the beginning of my path people enters the state of stressfulness. The man in this collage is in monochrome which suggests a sense of negativity and sadness which directly relates to stress. He covers his eyes since he can no longer handle his stress and he is trying to escape. I also cut out pieces of pointy triangles from his body and glued them at the sides pointing at him. This symbolizes a sense of tension and danger. This also echoes with the spikes in my installation The majority of the college is in red as the colour suggests since of danger and siren. At the back, there are blurring people walking, suggesting noise from the busy city. At the bottom right corner, the messy brush strokes symbolize a sense of messiness and unstable state of mind, that may turn into a mental breakdown. At the top, the red repetitive pattern forms add weight to the collage similar to the effect of stress piling up becoming heavier at times.
This collage represents the second part of my installation. By the end of the path, the person enters the state of relaxation and releases his or her stressed. The woman in the centre is a warm tone colour outfit which may suggest that she is in a good mood. The mild colours in the collage also suggest the state of relaxation. The background is a light grey colour with white clothing hanging at the top which suggests a sense of lightness and gives a soothing and weightless feeling. The reflective glass of water behind the woman suggests the woman be floating on top of the water in a relaxed state. Finally, I added a white ribbon at the front which looks like a piece of white cloth floating around the woman. Such a sense of relaxation appears everywhere around the person in my installation.
