Last week, on my first day living a new life in Lisbon, finally working as a journalist in a major European capital and the biggest city in Portugal, I walked out of the door for the first time and my heart felt so much joy. Thousands of people, black, white, roma, asian, etc., invaded the streets just outside my door to protest racism, police brutality and equal opportunities for minorities in Portugal.

I went back, grabbed my camera, and started taking pictures. My Pentax S1a has no photometer, so I was just guessing the light, the shutter speed, everything.

I ended up with these, which are far from perfect, but I hope the messages, written by a society fed up with racism and inequality, can make hope for the lack of quality.
