Collage | Portraiture Project
This portrait focuses on nature themes around a statue of the mythical huntress, Diana. The original main story focused on my not being allowed to keep pets as a child, so instead, I kept dead grasshoppers in a matchbox. One one level I knew they were no longer alive, but on the other hand, I still sacrificed other bugs to them each night. I aimed to bring this sense of macabre hope to the portrait.
I learn a lot about masking, adjustment layers and selections as the image assets are assemblages of Flickr CC licensed photographs.
