Who Is WB-42
I took some pictures this week of some older projects I had done, I wanted to try out my mini LED lights in a studio setting. This is Walter Bot or WB-42, he was the first fully 3D printed model I had ever made, he is a bit inspired by one of my favorite robots the Iron Giant, which is probably one of my favorite animated movies.

Miniature work has really become a part of my work now it’s something I have done for a long time, building scratch build models and scenery, though this was the first fully 3D printed design I had ever done before.

I had this concept that I would make this old rusting robot that is interacting with world around him, he is something that is artificial and created not like nature but he possesses a life of his own. I liked the concept of the rusting metal and nature with the stone and grass the bird sitting on his finger and even though he is an artificial being he has life and that life is limited, one day he will rust away and return the earth from which he was fashioned.

I went with this reddish orange lighting because I liked it mostly, though I love that it has a sunset feel to it. My lighting setup was just a cheap ring light and panel light from amazon, the copper metal surface of my desk and diffuser with another panel light angled down through it.

My camera is a D7000 with a Nikon stabilized 210mm macro lens on a tripod.

I created Walter 3 years ago and he was printed on an Ultimaker 2+ At 100 micron layer height then sanded and painted using miniature paints.
