Vision and Reflection：Photographs of China in the 19th Century from the Loewentheil Collection hosted by Tsinghua University Art Museum and Loewentheil Collection in 2018's Winter. This exhibition brings together 120 selected works by the leading figures in the 19th century photography in China, including the first visiting photographers and the earliest Chinese masters.Studio B263 (a.k.a Studio run by Prof. Zhao Jian) designed the identity and material for the exhibition, which featured the theme Vision and Reflection. We also designed the album which incorporated these historic document collection.
每张作品的摄影工艺都各不相同，有银盐、蛋白、明胶干版、铂金等等，还有少数手工着色，看似淡雅的色调中藏着丰富的细节，形色各异。我们在设计画册时保留了这些作品的色调，不对针对图像作任何修饰，意在强调这些摄影作品的藏品价值。同时，在视觉的整体的策划中也以克制、淡雅的风格为主。在图形与排版方面也选用具有手写风格的字体，拱托19世纪中国的街头中西杂处的视觉印象。
Each piece of the collection has a different size and delicate tones, which included a variety of photographic process techniques such as gelatin silver print, albumen process, platinum print, etc. and also a few hand-coloured. We preserved these detail on the album design work without modification to the images, intended to highlight the value of the collection of these photographic works.The graphics address issues of identity and authority with a classic pattern in the 19th century's China (multilingual typography in handwritten style typeface) and also the delicate colours tones of the old-crafted document.
画册的章节布局与展览的整体格局保持一致，整体以“我们”作为观者的视角出发。
章节共分为六个部分。从人物特写到群像、街景到建筑，乃至最后的全景，逐步地从微观到宏观，是一个借由藏品窥见历史细节的过程。
