Chochoł Pszeniczne

Chochoł Pszeniczne

Chochol Pszeniczne microbrewery is a collection of wheat beer, ecologically brewed using only natural ingredients. Every bottle is made with accordance to age-old polish recipe.

Inspired by Wyspianski's Wesele

The litteral translation of Chochol, one of the characters in the play, is a straw mulch stack, which was used to cover plants, to allow them surviving the winter time safely. The important fact here is that it also has a symbolic and metaphorical meaning. As a symbol, might refer to the spirit of Slavic folk demonology. Chochol, as the spirit of a homestead, would be invited to an opening of a house or a wedding. Although he is supposed to look after the guests, he could act awkward, malicious and misbehave. As Czeslaw Milosz has explained, he used to play a role similar to the conductor in an orchestra, everyone would follow his lead, enchanted by his dance.

The logo is a combination of the traditional polish embroidery and a wheatear. The folk character and a retro-style typography is a reference to the name of the beer, which evokes S. Wyspianski's play Wesele.

The unique taste of the craft beer, is stressed by a characteristic placement of the labels on the bottles. It strongly refers to the main theme of the product, at the same time, stands out from the competition. Each single label contains the key quotes, spoken by Chochol in the play.

The labels are made from ecological paper, using vegetable crops left overs, such as grapes, corn or lavender. Adoption of this method underlines the main concept of the brand, brewing with only natural ingredients, that's 100 percent ecological. Carefully selected paper with a subtle gold stamping makes each label simple but unique.
