FROZEN SOUNDS ARE GETTING AUDIBLE.
ARE WE READY TO LISTEN?
The pictures selected from my smartphone archive, taken between 2017 and 2019, and the moving images collected during the lockdown through live webcams, bring forward a discussion of what the coexistence between the actual city of stones and its natural lagoon means. Speculation of money, economical choices oriented to tourism and great works have transported Venice towards a mono-sectorial economy based on mass tourism, where there is no room for residents.
With them, the value of the environment in which the city stands is also forgotten.
At this point one wonders if a change of direction will be possible. If after the Covid-19 emergency there will be an intention to safeguard Venice, its lagoon and those who live there, or if the sirens alarm will continue resounding forever.
