AR - PARIS MUSEUMS 2020 OPEN CALL

¿Want to know more?
I finally had the chance to give some time and thinking about Augmented Reality, I always imagined the potentiality and application to my creativity and just after couple months of fooltesting I can tell how big is this window that I just stepped into.
So, it was lockdown time in Europe and constrained at home I pretty much spent a ton of hours playing the matrix testing out a new App of ARTIVIVE.COM that make AR so easy to process.

The Paris Musées gave full access to over 150,000 artworks for the world to use for free.
Artivive used this opportunity and invited their artist community to bring these masterpieces into augmented reality. Artists were asked to break the boundaries of the traditional media, by adding a digital layer to classical works of art with the Artivive tool.
More than 300 artists submitted to the open call, and certain is that i didn't even made it to the final, but I had a whole lotta fun testing it.

The AR Masterclass
"Augmented reality helps artists go beyond the canvas and take advantage of the power of storytelling to create a more interactive and enhanced experience for the viewer"
Concept:
My goal was simple, like in Matrix learning Ju Jitzu in minutes, i propose myself to bomb the mind of the viewer with a quick, painless, overwhelming art class over the painting that we were statically watching.

I selected a print of the Coronation of Napoleon, that every body remembers for the real painting by Jean Jacques-David instead of this reproduction.
Layering up the message i started studying the painting, extract infos and each detail like characters or elements, delivering it back in a constant stream of information that simply overcome the viewer...

First output
Like usual the final export arrived just couple minutes before the deadline,
It was a bit of the shock the first time I scanned the image through the app and the magic happened.
While the room was dark and the night was quiet an overdose of information started to flow out of my screen.

The Coronation of Napoleon(French: Le Sacre de Napoléon) is a painting completed in 1807 by Jacques-Louis David, the official painter of Napoleon, depicting the coronation of Napoleon I at Notre-Dame de Paris. The painting has imposing dimensions, as it is almost 10 metres (33 ft) wide by a little over 6 metres (20 ft) tall. The work is held in the Louvre in Paris.
"Jacques-Louis David (French: 30 August 1748 – 29 December 1825) was a French painter in the Neoclassical style, considered to be the preeminent painter of the era. In the 1780s his cerebral brand of history painting marked a change in taste away from Rococo frivolity toward classical austerity and severity and heightened feeling, harmonizing with the moral climate of the final years of the Ancien Régime.
David later became an active supporter of the French Revolution and friend of Maximilien Robespierre (1758–1794), and was effectively a dictator of the arts under the French Republic. Imprisoned after Robespierre's fall from power, he aligned himself with yet another political regime upon his release: that of Napoleon, The First Consul of France. At this time he developed his Empire style, notable for its use of warm Venetian colours. After Napoleon's fall from Imperial power and the Bourbon revival, David exiled himself to Brussels, then in the United Kingdom of the Netherlands, where he remained until his death. David had many pupils, making him the strongest influence in French art of the early 19th century, especially academic Salon painting."
The APP
I found really interesting the job they did at ARTIVIVE, they made possible for artist to add a new layer to their artworks, for me was the dawn of a new era, i spent half of the lockdown playing it around and in its simplicity, the website gives a really good platform to edit and produce AR.
Also for the public is really easy to use, making an Exposition in AR achievable just with the download of the app.
You can find it here: ARTIVIVE.COM
Final Output
at the studio in Seville
Try it out! It's fun!
Thanks for watching
