The Children of Myanmar

Those playful smiles warming my heart. Inviting me…to a game of catch…to take a picture.

These are the children of Myanmar. Children brought up in a very different world…to a very different reality than the one that most of us are accustomed to. Some children leave their homes at an early age to go train to become Buddhist monks. Some children stay and struggle to survive the extreme poverty their families have been born into. They play in the dirt. They wash themselves in the river. They search garbage bins for food.

Back in 2018, I traveled through Myanmar and along the way I encountered so many little kids in the local villages. I was captivated by their expressive stares and their sweet smiles. I photographed their beautiful little faces and as I did, I couldn’t help but wonder…what future will they have?
