Bon Voyage Travel App
BON VOYAGE is a travel application that allow travelers to go on any type of holiday and meet any user need. Travelers are able to create itineraries, access travel guides, and book flights and hotel rooms conveniently. Bon Voyage will facilitate book your vacation with just few taps.
The challenge
Travelers are becoming more independent and less reliant on travel agents. Travel technology now helps millions of people book flights and hotel rooms and rent cars. People all over the world are comfortable planning entire trips using mobile devices. In fact, 48 percent of US travelers search, book, and plan trips using only a mobile device.

The Problem
Travelers need a way to connect with local culture experiences so that they can make personalized trips through new experiences and eventually collaborate with other travelers.
User stories
“ As a frequent Traveler”, want to be able to connect with locals because having contact with locals could make my trip remarkable.


“As a good planner, I want to be able to find trips based on my interests, so that I can plan beforehand”.


“As a good planner, I want to be able to have all the information (alerts, notifications and updates) about upcoming trips so that I can make itineraries based on real time and real projections.”

The use of mobile applications has become more dominant when brands are trying to offer users a better experience when interacting, companies such as Expedia, Airbnb, and Tripadvisor are looking to provide the best experience for users who want to save time, money safely . For this competitive analysis I research a total of 6 competitor who are trend on this market. (Link here to see the competitive analysis)

There are emergent trends based on the user experience when they are interacting with the apps:

1. Establishing connections before, during, and after the trip.
2. Personalized offers and experience
Market:
60% of all bookings made through an online travel agency (such as Trip Advisor or Expedia) within 24 hours of the expected travel date occurred on a smartphone.

Travel apps has 84.7% mobile reach as of September 2019.
Mobile App:
More than 25% of all people book travel through mobile devices
Personas
The purpose of a persona is to create reliable and realistic representations of your key audience segments for reference.

Personas are fictional characters, which I create based upon my research in order to represent the different user types that might use Bon Voyage app,. Creating personas will helped me to understand my users’ needs, experiences, behaviors and goals.
Insights
Creating personas helped me to recognize that different people have different needs and expectations, and also help you me to identify with the user that I’m designing for. Personas helped to design task at hand less complex, they guided my ideation processes, and allow me to achieve the goal of creating a good user experience for my target user group.
Style Tiles

Combining fonts, colors, and interface elements helped me to communicate the essence of a visual brand of Bon voyage. These style Tiles helped me to form a common visual language to provide a deep feeling around the preferences and goals for the app and have a first direction to go on my process.

The look and feel of this Style Tile are appropriate for the target audience because represent travels, CTA’s.

Style tile 2 (Right side)
This Style Tile represents adventures and the traveler expression, I decided to add the logo as an element to deliver professionalism along with the UI elements

The next level on my process 6,8,5 sketching. This sketches helped me to build the shell of the interface, the screens will represent basic information architecture.

User testing
Testing goal
The purpose of this test was to evaluate the usability of Bon Voyage App, gain empathy with users and help us to think on improvements that provide better support during tasks and workflow from the perspective of 3 different users who regularly travel.
Participants
The participants were recruited from my network and also they represent potential users and that can fit the target audience:

Frequent travelers who use the technology to book flights.
Frequent travelers who Uses apps in their daily lives.
Frequen travelers who Does research before travel.

Scenario:
Users are super excited to use Bon Voyage App because they just heard about how easy, cheap and fast it is to book a flight for 1 passenger from New York City to Orlando from January 3rd to January 20th.

Feedback
After finishing the test all participants expressed positive and negative feedback about Bon Voyage App, these included recommendations, frustrations, suggestions and motivating words.
Key insights
During the test I can determine that users were able to navigate easily in the application despite the difficulties that came along. This test could determine that it is an easy to understand application, with clear information, appropriate language and the necessary elements to complete tasks with just a few taps and to finish the tasks successfully.

User testing was crucial to give the final direction of my design, the iterations made was based on , scheme color and illustrations

Conclusion

This project was very valuable to myself and It was a great learning experience. I was also able to effectively adapt to the situations or roadblocks that I experienced in a timely and collaborative manner. I am very prone of my first project during my program. I learned a lot from Flatiron School in general through this project, especially the instructors.
