client: The Office of the Mayor of Los Angeles

role: graphic/web designer

Los Angeles stands at the forefront of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) movement in its city-wide effort to align plans and goals to the SDGs, while mobilizing stakeholders at the goals’ intersections. LA is one of the first cities to report SDG data at the indicator level using the Open SDG platform.

I was hired as the lead designer by the Los Angeles SDGs team. In the first phase of the project, we worked on mapping and aligning both government and local efforts to the SDGs to identify relevant gaps. I also developed the logo, website, print and presentation templates, and overall look and feel of the project.

During the second phase of the project, I designed LA’s first Voluntary Local Review, highlighting the City’s efforts across eight key global goals.

By presenting a Voluntary Local Review, LA became one of the first cities in the world to uphold a commitment to transparency, publish its data online, and share core progress and ongoing challenges in reaching global targets for gender equity, homelessness, housing, climate action, education, economic growth, and more.
