In the French Alps at about 800 meters there is a zone between the valley and the snow topped peak where a severe hoar frost can be found existing almost permanently for days on end. In this 'Hoar Zone' the moisture from clouds freezes on the trees and bushes but leaves the ground uncovered which creates a magical and surreal landscape for a few weeks each year.
Having recently been working in film I have taken both lenses and techniques from moving image back to my stills photography and tried to create dramatic locations from these French landscapes.
