Amsterdam - Virtual escape game concept

In late 2019, my classmates and I had to make up groups and create a digital escape game, within the span of a few days.

We were Amsterdam.

We had to create puzzles based around the city that would challenge students playing, mixing both the digital and the real world in order to progress with the story.

My role was to design the screens and assets needed for the experience.

Our homepage had restrictions regarding the content displayed, but we could play around with the visuals, the copywriting... We took a minimalist approach, to save time, be efficient.
The screens of our escape game were based on Amsterdam's key locations. The story revolved around these as well.

For the Red District, I chose to play with a heavy brick wall structure and strong red neons. Minimalist, but it was just enough for people to recognize the place the action was taking place in.
With the canals, we could play around a little more. With the same minimalist vibe to it, a nice vintage-y picture along with a funky font did the trick.

(On top of that, waves effect were added during the development process)
The Coffee Shop was also a fun one to design. I could play with texture a little more as it had a shady ambience to it.

The neon is much less "fancy" than the Red District's one, but gives this really industrial sensation due to the textured wall and the reflection of the green neon onto it.
