RYOKAKU D.EX 1605 - VIRTUAL EXHIBITION

都市の渡す。RYOKAKU D.EX 1605
 VIRTUAL EXHIBITION
As it is known, an integral part of modern Tokyo is the technology and convenience that has overrun the city, from the abundance of signage, lit up at night to cars zipping through the city. This brings the unparalleled pace of the people, the hectic movement of city dwellers, the busy energy felt throughout the city. In the seemingly chaotic motions of daytime corporate Tokyo and its vibrant nightlife scene, there is an order in which each individual has to take their own path.

The word “ryokaku” is Japanese for a passerby; an individual existing in a particular place purely by chance, just as how the graduating class met coincidentally and have since been put on this path together. We the graduating batch of BIAD1605, a team of 8 unique individuals would like to channel the essence of roaming through the fast-paced, dazzling city lights of Tokyo after dark and bring you along for the ride as we embark on this new journey.

RYOKAKU D.EX 1605 presents to you the design projects of 8 passionate Interior Designers graduating from The One Academy Sunway. Come along and get lost with us on our journey through modern Tokyo.
Around early May, we got the news that our exhibition would be cancelled due to public health concerns surrounding the ongoing pandemic. So without question, we immediately decided to hold a virtual exhibition instead as to showcase our effort throughout these past 6 months.

Inspired by the Tokyo street night life and Shibuya crossing, the exhibition area showcases each member’s projects and personal branding in booths to represent different shop lots along the “street”. Since Tokyo is the center of Japan's arcade culture, an arcade area is located at the end of the “street” for photo sessions.

On the 18th of January 2020, RYOKAKU D.EX1605 visited Persatuan Kebajikan Warga Tua Wilayah Persekutuan Pusat Jagaan Kanak-kanak, Kepong and spent half the day with the children. We prepared goods like food and stationery to donate as well as school uniforms that we bought and sent to the home around late December before the school year began. During our visit, we also conducted activities like ice breaking games and an arts and craft session to interact and connect with the children.
