Lilies, a family of ducks and a small insect

Lilies, a family of ducks and a small insect
That day, I photographed yellow lilies, a family of ducks bathing and an insect on a tree trunk. I discovered this insect by reading the souvenir plaque on the tree.

It was a hot day and sitting in an Adirondack chair, I was enjoying the view of the yellow lilies in front of me. Suddenly, I heard many splashes in the little pond just next to me. A family of ducks was swimming. If you look at the photo with the ducks, you see a big clump of green on the left. My chair was right behind and the tree you see is where the insect rested.

It was July 26, 2019 and the Montreal Botanical Garden was open to visitors.
The botanical garden is currently closed due to Covid 19 and we do not know if the garden will be open during the summer. Asked about this, our mayor Valérie Plante replied that she was waiting for permission from Santé Québec.
The photos of the overview of the lilies and ducks are not very good, but they are part of my memories of July 26, 2019.

If you know the name of this insect, it would be really nice of you to let me know.
