An interactive book I created for the 2020 ISTD competition for the topic of "Migration".

Using the poem "Mother Country" by Richard Blanco, I visualise his mother's bittersweet journey migrating from Cuba to the United States.

I introduce harsh realities of this world regarding migration using news headlines in contrast to the sweet emotional poem.

The colours used throughout represent the vibrant colours of Cuba

Despite the negativity surrounding immigration, I end on a positive note with a sense of hope using both, our reality through the news headline and the way his poem ends with his mother assuring him that wherever they choose to be is home.

This quote by Blanco used on the back cover perfectly sums up the purpose of this book.
