Mercari meets magma
アーティストユニット「magma」とコラボレーションし、「メルカリらしいワークプレイス」を考えるプロジェクトの一環として、オフィスのエントランス用の椅子とメルカリロゴマークを制作しました。
もともとメルカリのオフィスで利用されていた椅子や、メルカリで購入した材料を利用して制作しています。 一度はモノとしての役目を終えたモノたちに手を加えて、もう一度新しい役目として利用する。 捨てられてしまうはずだったモノにクリエイティブの観点から手を加えることで再度モノとして利用できるようにするだけでなく、アート作品として生まれ変わらせることによって、モノそのものの価値をアップデートすることに挑戦しています。 単なるエントランスの椅子とロゴマークではなく、「多様なものが集まり、新たな価値が生まれるマーケットプレイス」としてのメルカリのそのものを表現する作品に生まれ変わりました。
メルカリオフィスに訪れる誰もが、「メルカリらしさ」を体感することができ、お客さまをお迎えするメルカリグループの一人ひとりが、ストーリーを伝えていくきっかけとなることを目指して制作しました。どうぞご自由にお掛けください。
A collaborative project with the artist unit “magma”. As part of a larger project to design a “Mercari-like office”, we created the Mercari logo mark and chairs to be used in the entrance to the Mercari office. These were created using materials bought on Mercari, as well as the chairs that were already being used at the entrance and within the office. By taking things that have finished serving their original purpose and modifying them to give them new life, this project represents Mercari’s role as a marketplace gathering many different things and creating new value. We hope that everyone visiting the Mercari office can feel what Mercari is all about while they wait, and that it creates opportunities for all those welcoming visitors to tell their stories.
