Kaiju Big Battel
Kaiju Big Battel is a performance/entertainment group featuring original characters inspired by old Japanese monsters. Live events usually involve archetypal heroes and villains fighting it out in a wrestling ring or steel cage. My affiliation with Studio Kaiju is primarily as a performer, but they have occasionally hired me to do some illustration work as well.
Vegetius vs. Dusto Bunny - Watercolor and acrylic on paper, with digital enhancements
I was asked to do a painting in the style of old 1960's monster movie posters. This often entails the human characters in the foreground seemingly not reacting appropriately to the chaos behind them.
Kaiju X-mas - watercolor on paper, Adobe Photoshop
This painting was made into limited edition X-mas cards.
Super-Dimensional Slug in Prehistoric Times - watercolor on paper
This painting is one of three I did as part of a set of Japanese menko cards
Steam-powered Tentacle Boulder vs. Marutambo - watercolor on paper
Another menko card
Dr. Cube and Silver Potato Dig Up Pablo Plantain - watercolor on paper
Another menko card
Kaiju Big Battel: Webster Hall, February 2008- ink on paper, Adobe Photoshop
This was a show poster.
CIA Badge for Imposter Plantains - Adobe Photoshop
This was actually made for a show prop. It was much too small to see at the live show, but I still think making it was time well spent.
Dai Hachi Hachi - traced and colored in Adobe Illustrator from an ink drawing I did. This is one of the characters I play in Kaiju.
Dr. Geertz - drawn with a brush pen on paper, colored in Adobe Photoshop
I was asked to design an archaeologist-type character for Kaiju's web site. She was only used in a few online stories
