Tour de France
Tour de France is often referred to as the hardest bicycle race in the world. The 2009 tour took off Saturday July 4th and ended Sunday July 26th in Paris covering a total distance of 3,500 kilometers (2175 miles). It was the 96th Tour de France since it began in 1903. There was no race between 1940 and 1946 due to WWII. The overall race was won by Spaniard Alberto Cantador after spending 85 hours 48 minutes and 35 seconds on his bike.
