"What Pina Drew" Illustration

"Pina wants to help, so she tries to get smaller. Get better. Be gooder.
Be quiet and think and make her own lunch and do the work her school sent."
Some of the behind-the-scenes work that went into my contribution for
“Girls Drawin' Girls presents: What Pina Drew” a collaboration between Pamela Ribon (Moana & Ralph Breaks the Internet) & 32 GDG Artists. This e-book was created to help children understand & process quarantine, social distancing and COVID-19.
I wanted Pina's attempts at pleasing her parents to stand out from the dreary, melancholy reality of quarantine, both in terms of color and in style.
To achieve that, I used a bright faux-felt texture on the angelic mini-Pinas that fill the bottom of the page.
Early brainstorming and sketches from the rough design phase.
A children's book ready version of the Girls Drawin' Girls logo/mascot, Gigi! Designed by me, based off of the original Gigi by Melody Severns.
As the vector graphic designer for Girls Drawin' Girls, I was also responsible for creating the group's promotional materials for What Pina Drew, featured here.
