Tove Lo Music App Concept

A mobile app that defines an artist’s current era and discography.
Designing an app dedicated to an artist is a dedication and a fan service. It has to attract the fanbase to gather a community, celebrates the artist’s body of work, faithful to their brand and persona, and provide access to a whole catalogue of the artist’s content. It has to also reflect her current artistry and music and provides source and place like tours, concerts, fan events, new music announcements, etc. all in one place. By making an imaginary musical era that Tove Lo potentially be exploring, in this case, a synth wave inspired album, I was able to create a concept reflecting the era and her evolution. But also concurrently support her past musical journey.
Tove Lo is known for making melodic and melancholic songs and infusing them with the contrasting sound of synths would be a huge departure. The first task to implement this idea was to rebrand her name by making her new logo. Basically, the logotype is a ligature between T and Love which also spells her name in a single entity. I’ve gone through several stages of creating icons for the interface and I’ve taken inspiration from familiar 80s artwork especially the visual language of Duran Duran’s album, “Rio” a staple piece created by the legendary artist, Patrick Nagel. This design direction gave her dark grungy look transformation into a new wave nostalgia.
I’ve cultivated neon and cool colour hues for the illustrations, icons, and user interface of the app, purely in faithful to what would be Tove Lo’s own synth wave fuelled album. Each pages have swift and smooth expressions that could set an energetic and fresh new musical journey.
