"القهوة" or El Ahwa - Stop Motion

This piece was named " القهوة " after the Arabic word for the traditional oriental coffee shops in Egypt or middle east. A lot of Egyptians gather after work or even in the morning, sit there, drink tea, coffee, chichat and even sometimes play games this is the reason for it to be the best place to reflect different characters in scenario. The stop motion clip is a play that was actually inspired by the famous french poet Jean de la Fontaine. Through one of his poems he described people who are ignorant and uneducated as animals. We tried to visualize some stereotypical situations to their corespondent animal representation in this small play occurring in an Egyptian coffee shop " القهوة " that is usually situated in the street. Our team was composed of two persons myself and Mona Diab, we had enjoyed our time throughout the whole process of making of: the characters were designed with an authentic look, then printed and cut out on paper. The setting was all hand made and constructed in Mona's house. With the use of spot lights for lighting, here we are we had our own small scaled theater all set up as if in a tiny studio. A fixed camera was placed on a tripod in front of the whole setting and hundreds of pictures were taken.

This was surely a very special piece of ART.
