The Waitress
ISTD Brief
Through my research I have discovered that one main difference between magazines and books is that magazines are designed to be skimmed through and books are made to be read from beginning to end in chronological order. Each page of a magazine is understood in isolation, by designing each page separately and selecting only the most important quotes from the text I have tried to create a magazine-like book through this observation.

I have designed each quote in its own typographic style so that it can stand alone while still keeping the consistency of the book.

The main theme that I have carried throughout the book is black chalkboards and windows. This is symbolic of a French cafe, with reference to the menu and the shop window. I used this theme because it is a good depiction of where the story has been set and creates a mood that is carried throughout.
