Opa Sylvius’ branding is based on the life of Franciscus Sylvius who invented gin at just 8 years old. Understandably, this was hard for many people to believe at the time, branding him a liar. This spurred Franciscus on to spend the rest of his life trying to prove them wrong. ‘Opa Sylvius’ is founded by Franciscus Sylvius’ grandson who wanted to continue his Grandfathers’ legacy. The packaging gives a nod to it’s vast heritage, as well as Franciscus’ work as a Physician before his death in 1672.
