Fat-shaming Protest

One way that humans can harm each other is through the act of fat-shaming. This involves criticizing and harassing individuals who are overweight, often about their appearance or eating habits, to make them feel ashamed. Some argue that this approach can motivate people to lose weight and improve their health but can also cause significant psychological harm. Stigmatizing and discriminating against overweight individuals can worsen the problem, leading to more eating, weight gain, insecurity, and health issues.
I created a series of cross-stitch frames over photography to protest this harmful behavior. These pieces will use irony and thoughtfulness to illustrate the effects of body shaming. They may encourage people to reevaluate their behaviors and self-reflect by highlighting how damaging and normalized fat-shaming is.
