ALTER EGO PROJECT
The personal direction assignment was to focus on a certain subject and try to tell a story through the photo’s that were taken. My idea for this project is to take shots of a person alter ego, getting different angles, close-ups of clothing the person is wearing and jewelry, also using a projector to show patterns on the model.
My biggest challenge was to get someone comfortable in front of the camera and me getting close too. Luckily, a wonderful friend of mine is 100% fine with it. I wanted to keep the clothing simple with white colors and simple patterns. Because I am working with a 35mm Holga camera, I thought about using bright colored backgrounds to show the different shadings casting on her face and body.
The point of this was for her to express how she is like, “Usually people would think I’m a shy person, I’m not really, I’m awkward and funny. I think my artwork helps me express that part of me.” Getting to know more about my friend I learned she really likes artwork that have animals in them, so I got a classroom all to myself turned on the projector got music and we had fun.
Special thanks to my wonderful friend Torrey for letting me show everyone awesome she really is!
